Hotel Corte di Nettuno preserves precious marine objects and tells its guests of its great love for the sea. Compasses and portholes of various sizes, rudders of different workmanship, antique brace blocks, anchors and nautical maps telling of sea routes and landings. These objects collected from all parts of the world enrich this setting
The symbol of Otranto is the mosaic of its Cathedral, the largest and oldest mosaic in the world, object of a wonderful restoration carried out about 15 years ago. One of the artisans who participated in the restoration, Sonia Piconese, now has her very own craftsman studio of mosaic and has been commissioned to realise works for both private clientele as well as for places of worship in both Italy and the Unites States (Ohio). She has been entrusted with the task of paying tribute to the city of Otranto realising a mosaic which winds like Ariadne’s thread along the entire hotel celebrating once again, in its weaving entirely created by hand and placed according to ancient traditions of mosaic art, the Mediterranean Sea, its riches and its myths. To be in the corte di Nettuno is like experiencing a cruise in history, a journey of departures with many horizons.
